In case you missed it, the ios audio blog at iosaudio.wordpress.com has moved. Our new name is audiosaudio and our new address is audiosaudio.com

We have been working hard to get up and running, and nothing is ever complete, but we are at least online and posting. We have kept almost everything from our original site here, and have been adding on.

We have been kind of quiet the last few days, but that is because we have been hard at work on our new name and site. We are moving the ios audio blog at iosaudio.wordpress.com over to our new site, audiosaudio, at audiosaudio.com

It has been a long weekend working, but we are almost ready. The ios audio blog at iosaudio.wordpress.com is getting ready to move to a new host and get a new name. We will be moving the entire blog over, and adding some new stuff as well. Our new site will have a lot more features and flexibility. Stay tuned, we are just about there.

There is an updated tutorial on using the Audioview and ReForge Apps focusing on audioX. If you need to transfer multiple files between two iDevices, you can use the audioX protocol, which is currently limited to Audioview and ReForge. Every ios musician should have at least Audioview, since it is indispensible in it’s role of acting as a bridge between the various incarnations of ACP. :: StudioTrack Update ::

StudioTrack gets an update today, and they now offer Audio Copy and Paste, before they only offered Paste. The update also includes iTunes File Sharing and other enhancements, but the full implementation of ACP was what we were waiting for.

:: Our Master List of ACP Apps ::

We have been planning it, had numerous requests for it, and have finally posted it: Our Master List of Apps Supporting Audio Copy/Paste! Now, it is a work in progress, bare bones, and surely incomplete, but, it is every App we know of featuring some sort of ACP implementation. At a later date, we might make a note of which version, as the Sonoma implementation allows for multiple files to be stored in the clipboard. Also, we have removed our links to the previous outside sources, simply because they were not updated regularly, and in the case of one list, the information was incorrect and a little garbled. We are also thinking of starting a list of Apps which do not implement any form of ACP, but should. Maybe a petition drive of some kind would push Korg and Rebirth in the right direction. Today we expanded our Midi Support List to include OSC support, and thanks to a reader suggestion, a new category for DSMI…I have been researching Apps with Midi support today, and came to a few conclusions..One, our list is missing a ton of Apps, which we are working on. Two, there are tons of Apps which feature some sort of Midi support which we haven’t gotten to yet. And third, there will be tons and tons of information to gather…For instance, some Apps use the DSMI – Nintendo DS Midi over wi-fi to send Midi messages, while it looks like some use DSMI to send OSC messages…Some support the Mackie protocol, while others do not. Hopefully we can keep filling those blanks in.

:: Beatles: Alan W. Pollack’s Notes ::

Alan W. Pollack’s notes on the Beatles are insane. While not strictly ios related, every musician should take a look. Pollack meticulously examines every song in the Beatles catalog. THOROUGHLY. He takes notes on key changes, harmony, melody, technology, context, the subtle differences in drum figures over the course of 8 bars, and so much more. His notes are impossible to describe. Sometimes funny, sometimes self-deprecating, sometimes they are so technical that my three years of music theory at college level can’t keep up. It is almost like Rain Man writing about the Beatles. Pollack’s project of writing about every Beatles song (he even contrasts official releases with outtakes and bootlegs!) was years in the making, and he has made his writing free to all. Updated the Midi Support List with some additional App titles, as well as adding a couple of new categories, such as OSC and proprietary such as AutoMap (Novation Protocol).

Speaking of OSC, I get stuck in mental ruts occasionally, and jsut don’t have the energy to work things out – maybe that horsepower is devoted elsewhere, I don’t know – but are there any Apps with OSC-in support? Are there any Apps where I can use an OSC control surface on my iPad to control a synth or sampler on my iPod Touch?

And if not, why not?
